top 5 non-dateable (no route, not a LI) cheritz characters?
Ooooh nice question, let's think :0 what are all the Cheritz characters who don't have routes? 🤔ᴴᴹ
Well, in Dandelion, we've got Heejung and Heejae, then in Nameless, we've got Eri, Soi, Shinbi, Zion, Hobin, Yujin and the school Principal. For Mystic Messenger, you've got Rika and Vanderwood and some useless other characters like Echo Girl. And idk too much about Ssum, but I think the only no datable characters I know are Angel and June's relatives
Technically, both Heejung and Eri have routes since they have the common routes, but idc. But that is why I'm counting the Wizard and Nameless as dateable characters. So on w the ranking!!
1. Eri
I love Eri just so fucking much, she's so cute and relatable and autistic and aroacespec and oh my god. I've never related to anyone more than her and I'd have chosen her name if not for wanting a more masculine name like Link. But oh my god, Eri is such a good name tho..
She's such a good main character as well. I love her story and her journey so much and I love her design and everything and aaaaaa-
2. Heejung
What can I say, I love a good main character. I think it's such a shame tbh, Cheritz is so good at making main characters, it's unfortunate they never made any more proper ones for Mystic or Ssum
I don't remember Dandelion too well but I do still love Heejung so much. She is literally just doing what she can and all this shit just keeps piling on top of her n then she keeps just trucking on. I love it
3. I'm gonna have to say. The Principal
He's so funny and sweet and chill. I think he actually knows way more than he lets on
He does have such huge potential that wasn't explored, I wish we could see more of his relationship w Eri, how he looked after her after her grandpa died and acted as the only responsible and reliable adult in her life while she was alone before the dolls came to life
I like him. He kinda reminds me of Winnie the Pooh
4. Shinbi
Beautiful. Effervescent. Gorgeous. Amazing
Pretty. Great friend
5. John the Cat

These are both really good points ☝️ but I want to bring up another
Cheritz is incredibly good at writing main characters, being able to flesh out the routes of each romance in detail whilst still having a compelling and cohesive story for main and side characters
Just not with Mystic Messenger or The Ssum
Both of these games are made with blank slate main characters in mind and their stories revolve entirely around the love interests. The main characters of these games does not have a life outside of the love interests
In both Dandelion and Nameless, Cheritz has showed off their fantastic skills at writing main characters, so well that Heejung and Eri are two of my favourite Cheritz characters of all time, which is saying something when there are now more than 15 romancable characters and only 2 of them. Heejung and Eri are both quite feminine and nurturing yes, but I wouldn't say that they only do the emotional labour for love interests. They're both characters who don't take shit from no one, who are very proactive and bold and protective in their stories. And they are still feminine and nurturing at the same time.
The point I want to make is that Cheritz has no issue with making quality main characters. I believe the issue in Mystic Messenger and Ssum is that they literally don't have a main character. As in, the main character's only role in the story is just to support the love interests
I literally don't think it’s possible for such a characterless character to have so much...character. Someone with no presence in the story can't be proactive in it, I'm just not sure if that's possible..
That said though, you do raise a very good point: if the main characters of Mystic Messenger and Ssum are both supposed to be just self-inserts for the player, why can't we decide the main character's gender? Now that's a question I don't know how to answer. Maybe it’s as prev said, how these games have been in the works since before genderfuck was a normal thing. Maybe we shouldn’t expect a South Korean company to conform to Western norms. I don’t know. But I look forward to the day when this might be a feature in Cheritz's games ❤️❤️❤️❤️
yknow now that i think about it, if mystic messenger wasn't so loyal to traditional gender roles it would not have the issue of "female character does emotional labor for the male characters and puts up with their bs"
if only mc was not stuck in a traditional role of "soft nurturer girl" and able to be a lot more proactive and take on the "protector" role instead
i read an amazing honkai star rail analysis on gender identity in aventurine's story and loved that it basically reverses the roles ; which is, as the author of that analysis said, probably one of reasons why he is a popular character amongst ladies . why cant cheritz do the same ? i honestly think it could really benefit the narrative!
cheritz needs to realize that by liberating our fem mc from traditional gender roles it will give her more power and make the issue i began this post with almost nonexistent. y'all alrdy have two canonically queer characters, you might as well stop with the archaic gender norms😭its okay for her to be the knight instead of the damsel in distress
it's especially frustrating when its with characters like saeyoung, who, in my opinion, require protection more than actually being the protector lol . (hes also one of the two before mentioned queer characters so this gender norm issue is especially confusing in his route)
this is one of the reasons why i like hana from the webtoon !! shes more proactive and bold, which also leads to her basically speedrunning seven's whole "im too dangerous for you go away" shenanigans
and again we circle back to "if only mystic messenger mc was non-binary" 🥲 .... these issues would be nonexistent

That otome dudes’s top beginner otome
So you wanna get into otome games but have no idea where to start? here’s some games I’ve played that would make very good introductions to the genre.
1. Code Realize: Guardian of Rebirth
This is about a young girl named cardia who is awoken from her sleep one night to the British royal army taking her away since she is a monster. All Cardia knows is that she is a monster with poison that burns anything she comes in contact with, and that she needs to wait for her father. Her kidnapping attempt, however, is interrupted by the gentleman theif Arsene lupin who whisks her away to steam punk London here she meets Victor Frankenstein, saint Germain, Impey Barbicane, and Abraham van Helsing who band together to solve the mystery of what Cardia’s poison is and where her father vanished to. The characters and world are just so easy to get into, and each brings with them a part of their literary counterpart which helps add to the experience
2. Nameless: the one Thing You Must Recall
This game probably is the most odd on this list, being about a girl named Eri who finds that her treasured ball jointed dolls have come to life one morning. This game deals a lot with dealing with grief and also about growing up and learning to accept your interests even if they may be strange to some. Each character has their own backstory and issues they deal with. lance deals with self doubt and lack of purpose, Yeonho deals with relationships with others and that you do not need to be perfect to have friends, Tei deals with his own self image and learning to love himself and move on from past abuse, Yuri deals with learning about lust vs love and how to properly express his emotions, and Red deals with his own self worth and reason for being. Every character has an interesting story, and some of the scenarios can be downright terrifying.
3. CollarXMalice:
This is a crime thriller with a romance twist, and is great if you are just trying to get into romance stories. ichika is a new cop who is helping to investigate a series of terrorist attacks called the X Day Murders, and suddenly becomes involved when she is kidnapped and given a collar that will kill her if she does not solve the X Day murders or let’s the police know about it. She teams up with a team of ex cops and together they all try and solve the case for their own reasons. each character was very interesting and with this story work great for someone who is still unsure if they are interested in full on romance vns.
4. Mystic Messenger:
Obviously I’d have to put this one here since it’s easily the most popular and most accessible of all the games on this list. You play as an unnamed protagonist who is asked by an unknown person to deliver a lost cellphone to an apartment within your city. Once you get to the apartment and attempt to try and locate the owner of the phone you meet a fundraising organization called the RFA and learn that the apartments owner was the founder who passed away. You learn the reason why you were brought to this place, who the unknown person was who sent you there, and get closer with all of the organization members through all the twists and turns the story takes. This is a great start since it plays on a schedule that you can just check back every few hours, play a bit and then leave it if you’re pressed for time. The stories for each character are all very good and takes some really dark twists that i love from Cheritz. There’s also DLC and new content updates still coming out so you won’t be lacking content.

WARNING:spoilers ahead, from Mystic messenger, dandelion and nameless(kind of) __ so I just read the theories floating around here in tumblr about Rika, being previous MC . so, what If “Rika” was an alias she used to play the game . of course we know the game gives us the possibility of having a name (maybe ours or just another one) for our character but cheritz didn’t suggest one at the start of mysmes like they did before ( cheritz suggested names before, like Eri from nameless, heejung from Dandelion.) probably the first suggested name in mystic messenger was “rika” but of course, the upcoming MC can’t have the same name. ok anyways. let’s take a look at the picture above . something sounds wrong . yes where are your eyes Rika ?? it is quite familiar, our MC doesn’t have eyes too. What if the MC that is supposed to play doesn’t have eyes, at the first time rika met V she just started playing.
what if the propose of mystic messenger game is to make characters happy and to help them get over their complexes. which makes rika not the main character anymore because she failed during her mission to make everyone happy, I mean at one point almost each character had a crush on her (jumin, yoosung, seven) but V loved her and she loved him back … let’s suppose that the game rika played didn’t have the rest thingie because the wizard is not done with it yet (so basically she was playing an unfinished game ) she had to go on only one route who was V’s (there is no alternate universes . no rest .) that’s why V is unplayable character, and also everything that happened before we *MCs*start playing, stayed the same, V and rika’s relationship, Rika’s death, saeyoung and co tragedies ..because the game didn’t rest from rika’s part but instead got stopped when rika faked her death and founded mint eye . before the actual Mysmes got released. which make me think : hey what if the game rika played was “the demo” but to her unfortunate luck, the game didn’t restart correctly .. With error 707, the memories about the first protagonist rika and the first game play wasn’t erased from the game only but also from characters memories, THEY REMEMBER, that made them traumatised by her loss, a stronger reason to save the characters.
“As part of its memory deallocation process, Adaptive Server tries to release the pages of memory allocated to a procedure header when they are no longer needed. When Adaptive Server is unable to release that section of memory, error 707 occurs.”
ERROR 707 OCCURS !!!
nothing really gets erased from demo route, but becomes a part of the story itself .
‘events stopped at one stage when she fakes her death and founded mint eye. desperately trying to save everyone in her own way .at the same time … The wizard finished the game…’ We play until we reach character’s eleven’s day. rest occurs. We play another route. The same process happens. until we get to 707’s 11th day, where MC being with seven changed the events. that is why seven is considered end of game because with secret 1 and 2 , Rika’s story continues ! everything happens and we try to correct mistakes committed in the previous demo game. If you play in the correct order : zen> yoosung> jumin> jaehee> 707 each character will have a universe where they get over their problems. They are saved. there’ll be a universe where rika is -kind of- saved too .
______
Notes: 1- it’s my first theory and definitely have some wrong things, be nice guys and correct them please! I would be really pleased.
2- if this theory was mentioned by someone else before, please tell me so I can credit properly. ___________ disclaimers : 1- I was highly influenced by other amazing theories! credits to their proper owners!

anyway, i was thinking about cheritz (when am i not tbh), and i think my preferred order of the games are:
1. mystic messenger
2. nameless
3. dandelion
i havent finished dandelion yet, so that could change.
there are things i like from all of the games though! i like the characters in mystic messenger the most, there isnt one that i dont like (well, the main characters at least). i also like how frequently you get to make choices, and of c the fact that its in real-time. although sometimes that does make it difficult for me to play bc i have an awful attention span. i dont like though how mental illness is presented (namely in rika’s case, i quite like how they do it w saeran), the fact that jaehee is a platonic route (i get that they couldn’t make her romantic though, so i’m not too upset), the homophobic comments (mostly from zen @ jumin), and there are some things in the after ending that as a writer i wouldve done different (v’s death, and keeping secrets from the rest of the rfa. i did like how the story went and it was well written, this is just personal preference). i also wish that mc was a character of her own & not just a self insert, but again that’s just personal preference
in nameless i like how all the routes are in one story (dandelion did that too of course, but i feel like it works better in nameless). i also like eri having good, supportive friends, and i find a lot of the stuff about how dolls work really interesting. it was also a surprise when i finished my first route that the ending wasn’t just happy, which was quite nice! i also like how hidden the final secret ending is (i wouldntve known how to get it if i hadnt read about it!). i also like how all the routes merge in the end, it’s interesting to think about how they make it work. also the fact that nameless exists in the same universe as dandelion is pretty cool! i don’t like how jealousy is such a big issue in every route, personally. i feel having that all the time gets a bit repetitive after a while? i dont find the characters as likeable as mystic messenger, although they aren’t really bad, just not my types. i also feel that they arent as developed as they could be, but that’s probably nitpicky.
dandelion has my favourite mc! i love how fleshed out heejung is, for an mc, and that she has her own issues (school, her future & her mother). i also love that she’s voiced! i also like the character designs in dandelion more than in nameless. except the wizard. but i love making fun of him so it’s fine. i haven’t finished the game yet though so i can’t give a full opinion. oh! also it has my favourite opening of the cheritz games!
anyways, that’s all, just wanted to go on a Talk About Cheritz, thanks for ur time

For the ask game thingie: top 5 fictional characters? From any media, or if that is too broad, you can choose a specific piece of media!! :)
First of all thank you for sending ask 😎 second of all, you have been warned, this post is incredibly long and infodumpy.
I was going to include other media but as I started I just got more and more invested in Nameless
If you don't know who these characters are or where they're from I'll take this post to strongly recommend checking out the otome visual novel Nameless the One Thing You Must Recall, made by a collaboration between dating sim company Cheritz and ball joint doll company Crobi Doll. You can play the demo(?) or buy the full game on Steam or watch a variety of play throughs available on YouTube but since this post is about the characters instead of the game I will stick to just that- this is my main blog and therefore spam blog but it is first and foremost a Nameless blog ;)
This is long so I'll put it under the cut ^^
Up first of all is him, the one, the only, the man, the myth, the legend, the hero of the hour: Red from Nameless the One Thing You Must Recall :) could anyone have possibly predicted this? /s
He is the character ever, I will not apologise. He is the perfect man. He is everything I am and aspire to be. Number one himbo and most precious being in existence. My bpd bestie and husband, til death do us part.
I cannot possibly relate to him or his struggles anymore than I already do, he is so fucking unbelievably underrated in what little fandom this game has, he deserves so much more. He literally just does his best and never does anything wrong and the very little he does do wrong he sincerely apologises for and never does again ❤
He is the knight in shining armor who tries constantly to achieve an impossible goal because he believes himself worthless otherwise and slowly comes to realise that all he needs to do is stay right by Eri's side to be enough because, in her words "you are great as you are right now", a quote I will never forget
Coming up next-
It's her. The her of the game ever. It's Eri.
She is the main character, she is literally me.
I think her character especially is such a good protagonist for a game like Nameless cuz I also appreciate just how fleshed out she is, with her relationships - to her grandpa, her parents, Nameless (the character), her friends and the dolls - especially with how she holds every single one of them so dear to her.
Nameless' such strong themes of abandonment and grief are shown in her character really well cuz for some of the dolls their reactions to their own abandonment can be sort of abnormal or extreme (ex. Tei, Nameless), but I think Eri's reaction is so so human and childish (in a good way) cuz it's almost like she never grows up because of it. Her parents work overseas so her grandfather looked after her until he passed away and she began to just live on her own in his apartment. Her parents very rarely ever visited and she struggled to make friends so she only has 2, so as she grew and learned how to live on her own she developed a hobby of collecting ball joint dolls from the company Crobi Doll which makes dolls with souls so they feel alive.
She deals with the abandonment of her parents and the loss of her grandfather by escaping reality with playing with her dolls and dressing them up but I think another way she copes with it of note is how she doesn't ask for help when she needs it cuz she doesn't wanna bother people. It's never explicitly stated in the game in comparison to how the doll's issues are so explicit but you can definitely infer that how she learned not to ask for her parents to give attention to her cuz she didn't wanna bother them bled into her future interactions with ppl and not asking for help when it's needed. The wording of that feels incoherent but I hope the point gets across??
Anyway I love her so much, I hope you can tell 😅
In third place I have selected the Ice Prince, Lance :)
He's pretty funny. Lol.
Ok but I really really love how good of an introduction he is to the game. There isn't a set order to play all of the routes in but the recommended order is: Lance -> Yeonho -> Yuri -> Tei -> Red -> Nameless. With the themes of not only grief and abandonment but the empathy/connection to inanimate objects, his route really really compliments those themes well, especially in the chapter in which he and Eri search for her lost phone and especially his rain scene.
His route as a whole is quite sweet, his growth is very cute and the end to the festival scene is absolutely hucking filarious. Ooh and I love his relationship with Red and how they compliment each other so well but are in constant competition at the same time. I feel like they would be the stars of a romcom or something, I would love to see some kind of dlc or spinoff which solely focuses on them trying to tolerate being roommates with each other 😂😂
In fourth place I am choosing Mr Yuri :3
I think out of all the other characters he's slightly misplaced? I've played the game over multiple times and his route still confuses me a bit since I'm not really sure what struggles his character arch is supposed to be a comments of. He's a bit of a difficult character to read and he can even come off as quite unlikeable because of his flirty and carefree attitude but despite all of the confusion I really can't help but love him and his route - I can do nothing but find it incredibly sweet and cute :)
Out of the whole game my favourite scene is the one pictured above, his rain scene. I love how different it is to Lance and Yeonho's rain scenes because theirs revolved around Eri rushing to find them in the rain and comfort them thru whatever they were dealing with, but Yuri's rain scene involves Eri rushing to save him from the rain only to find that he is warm and dry and calmly playing the piano whilst Eri is the one who needs comforting after being in the cold and storm.
He's very flirtatious and boasts about how much women love him and he loves them in return but Eri learns that he's actually quite an empty person who only gives back as much love as he is given from others. He lacks the understanding of sincerity because he is so used to giving love only to be polite and so is overwhelmed upon realising his sincere feelings for Eri.
I suppose on further inspection he's more like a person who surrounds themself with fake and shallow love to feel whole whilst lacking any deep true connections and understanding of other people? He understands love through flattery and money instead of the intimacy of personal connection.
Because of this I think that the title of Red's opposite is less fitting of Lance as it is Yuri to be honest. Lance is too similar to Red to be his true opposite, they're only opposite on the outside. Red is someone who doesn't particularly understand empty love like that, he is someone who only understand sincerity, whose character is defined by his unabashed and unapologetic empathy.
Also I love him cuz he's funny. For a competition on the funniest Nameless character he is up there. Seriously.
In last place it's kind of tie between Soi and Shinbi.
^ edit by @welcome-to-banjul - will reblog original post after uploading this one
It's a little bit cheating to put 2 characters into the 5th spot but okkkk they don't count as 2 different people, they are a package deal ok??? 😂😂😂
Both Soi and Shinbi so cute just look at their designs alone!! They are amazing :)
They compliment each other so well and are so supportive of Eri it's adorable. I especially love their interactions at the end of Lance's route when Eri finally gets the courage to share with them her passion for dolls and to her surprise they react so well and accept her wholeheartedly and even seem to show an interest in it themselves :)
They're both really nice palette cleansers from the insanity and depression of the boys' routes as the majority of their scenes are very lighthearted and wholesome as well as hilarious especially around exam time. Soi's over the top dramatic reactions blend really well with Shinbi's cool and calm attitude. Did you know Shinbi's name can translate to mystery? Quite fitting for her :)
One thing though that I don't like about them is that I wished they played a bit more of a role in the story and although they do serve more purpose in Red and Tei's routes I wish their roles were more positive than conflicting. Plus I wish that Shinbi played more of a role too. And!!! They were done so dirty when Yujin of all people was given a dlc but for Soi and Shinbi??? Nothing!!! Come on!!! >:(
And. You cannot convince me that they aren't in some kind of relationship. Romantic, platonic or what, I don't know, but I do know for sure that those two share everything with each other and I have a relationship more intimate than a married couple.
Thank you so much for sending the ask!! ^^ I really appreciate it and I hope you enjoyed the word vomit 😅 I shall end this with a poll
#i have no idea how long this took to write but i just know it was a long time.#(*ˊᗜˋ*)ᵗᑋᵃᐢᵏ ᵞᵒᵘ so much for asking!!! 😁#my post#ask#ask game#nameless the one thing you must recall#nameless#cheritz#cheritz nameless#nameless cheritz#undescribed

Hello! Can I please know from where u played nameless? Did you get it on steam or any other way ?
Hi! Judging by your blog, I'm guessing that you are asking because you have never seen or played the game before yourself? If you are interested in playing this game, in my opinion it is Cheritz's best game and I can ensure you will enjoy it
After playing Mystic Messenger in 2017, I first of all played the Nameless demo from Steam, which shows you 2 scenes from the common route. I then purchased the full game for roughly £22 and it has been my biggest special interest since. That's roughly 7 years ago now, and I currently have over 720 hours in the game from playing it over and over again.
Sometimes it does go on sale, tho I'm not sure when. Usually at holidays. I think it is a fair price tbh, especially considering that there are no additional subscriptions or micro-transactions like with the other games
It is not a mobile game like Ssum and MM, but can only be played on Steam. If you don't want to pay but still want to enjoy the game, I recommend Melizbeauty's play through of the game on YouTube
It's an entire visual novel as well. No chat rooms, just visual novel. There are 2 mini games in the game but they aren't difficult and don't have big consequences for failing
I can't tell how much you know about Nameless already, so I'll just take this opportunity to infodump a bit anyway. Sorry if you expected a short answer for this, I'm a bit of a rambler. This post will not contain spoilers though
I'm going to be talking about Nameless in comparison to MysMes and Ssum, since that's the perspective I assume you're coming from - see below for a spoiler free review of Nameless the One Thing You Must Recall
The game has the same 5 love interests and 2 secret endings, just like MysMes, and it of course has a smiliar vibe, in which the game appears quite cutesy and innocent but can have a lot of dark themes
Mystic Messenger's general theme is mental health, and Nameless has themes of that too, but specifically leans into grief and abandonment as a core theme, as well as childhood and memory
It revolves around our main character, who has been living all on her own since her grandfather's passing in the last year. She has 2 best friends, but still keeps her own feelings and her hobby of doll-collecting to herself. When her dolls magically come to life one day, they begin to live with her, and she is no longer lonely or sad at home like she was before they came to life
Considering Dandelion as well as Nameless, I believe that Cheritz made the wrong decision by making games that had blank slate main characters. I don't think that it was the wrong idea to give blank MCs to MysMes or Ssum, since the games work better that way, but I'm not sure why they made such a decision when they've shown just how good they are at writing main characters. I am able to relate to the main character, Eri, throughout the entire game and she is one of my favourite characters I have ever seen
About the love interests, I can also see each of them as human as well, and I see how human all of their interactions with each other are as well. I believe that something Mystic Messenger wrote really well was the characters' relationships with each other. In both Nameless and Dandelion, the love interests are all stuck in their situation and really wouldn't rather be friends otherwise; whereas MysMes' characters' relationships are all intentional yet also quite nuanced and complicated. Nameless' relationships, I think, aren't quite as complex as MysMes', but they are still very complex in their own ways and incredibly interesting to explore, especially between that of Yuri and Tei
In terms of tone and rating, I'd say this game has lower stakes (takes place in a high school rather than in a cult) but the yanderes of this game are more obsessive and violent, even outside of bad endings. I'm not an expert on otome in general, so I don't know for full, but some people say that Nameless has more extreme yanderes, while other people say that the yanderes aren't bad enough? Idk, I'm not an otome fan, I'm just a hardcore Nameless/Cheritz fan so I can't say much. I just know that it's more yandere than MysMes, but not nearly as yan as Dead Wishes (which is also available on Steam and I do recommend)
The plot and story I'd say is God tier. Better than MysMes imo. I love how the plot comes to a climax in the last route, then we play the secret endings and resolve the main conflict. A lot of people say that the ending is way too abrupt and ambiguous, but I think it does wrap up the story really nicely. If you've got nothing else about the story to say, then why continue talking. The ending was perfect the way they left it, idk where else they could've gone with it. Plus, it leaves plenty of room for interpretation and plenty of room for theories and fanfics
The translation is fine with a couple inconsistencies. A few of them can take away from an emotional scene but it's never bothered me. The game is fully voice acted and I think that every single one of the voice actors put their entire soul into their performances in this game. I especially want to praise Lance's, Tei's and Red's voice actors. Even if you just listened to the audio without reading the translation, you can just hear the emotion so much. They all did so well
( ̄ヘ ̄)ᵁᴹᴹᴹ can't think of much else to say. If you do decide to play this game, I do look forward to hearing your opinions to it and also encourage you to devour my entire blog for all my Nameless posts
ʕ´•ᴥ•`ʔ ˢᵒʳʳʸ about the length, and ʕ´•ᴥ•`ʔ ˢᵒʳʳʸ if I completely misunderstood and you already knew all of the above. (๑`✪̤◡✪̤)◞ღԵհɑղƘՏღ for the ask!!!!
